The president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, and that of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, closed ranks this Thursday, March 28, against their Argentine counterpart, Javier Milei, after the offensive expressions issued by the latter against them in an interview. The situation raised tension between the three leaders and even the Government of Colombia announced the expulsion of Argentine diplomats. The diplomatic dispute between Colombia, Mexico and Argentina increases.
After the Colombian Foreign Ministry announced on Wednesday that diplomats from the Argentine Embassy would be expelled following the offensive statements of the Argentine president, Javier Milei, the tension moved to social networks this Thursday, March 28.
The origin of the exchange of accusations was an interview with Milei on the 'CNN' channel, in which he disqualified his Colombian counterpart, Gustavo Petro, calling him a “terrorist murderer”, making reference to his guerrilla past. He also called the Mexican ruler, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, “ignorant.”
This Thursday, the Argentine president, far from rectifying his controversial statements, has been reaffirmed through X, recounting the “aggressions” he previously received from them.
TO Gustavo Petro He reminded him that he had previously compared him to Hitler.

For its part, López Obrador reproached him who some time ago called him a “conservative faco.” He mentioned it, supposedly, as an example: “Here is one of AMLO's many attacks.”

In response, in addition to announcing the expulsion of diplomats, this Thursday the Minister of the Interior of Colombia, Luis Fernando Velasco, warned of the consequences of his statements to the Argentine president, in addition to demanding an apology:
“Mr. J.avier Milei, you were wrong on a serious matter and you owe an excuse to the Colombian people and an explanation to your people, Argentina is much more than your bravado,” he said.
For Velasco, Milei has a “vulgar attitude, that of a village bully” and added that “it can be profitable in a low-level electoral debate, but it should never be the behavior of a head of state.” For this reason, he wanted to make it clear: “in Colombia we respect the Argentine people, but we do not accept the treatment that their president gives to our president, the result of a democratic process that we respect and ensure respect.”
