Marquez show
The center of the debate within the MotoGP paddock is always him: Marc Marquez. In Jerez the eight-time Spanish champion was once again the absolute protagonist in the Sprint race, for better or for worse. He led the race as leader, as had also happened in Austin, he fell, got back on the bike and recovered to seventh position (which later became sixth following penalties for irregular tire pressures). Precisely in this second part of Gresini's #93 feat, however, the results arrived controversy: In fact, Marquez made his way in the final laps by storm maneuvers to the limit and even beyond. The new Ducati rider hit Joan Mir first, earning a 'drop 1 position' as a penalty, and then he also made his way hard on Miguel Oliveira to manage to bring home three championship points.
Too aggressive
His behavior was not at all welcomed by Carlo Pernathistoric MotoGP manager and current manager of Enea Bastianini, who at the microphones of Sky Sports MotoGP he pointed the finger at Marquez and also at Brad Binder, responsible for the disastrous fall that knocked Pecco Bagnaia out of action. “It's no longer the motorcycling of my time, when it ended in fights after the race. If I were a driver or a sporting director at the next Safety Commission I would point the finger at Marquez and Binder – underlined Pernat – Mr. Marquez is a sight to see racing, but when he does numbers like this he has to get a long lap penalty tomorrow. Otherwise everything goes well and the riders get hurt”.
Penalty too light
The Genoese manager contested thetoo aggressive attitude of the home champion Gresini and also the too much permissiveness from Race Directionwho gave him a penalty that was – in his opinion – too light: “Anyone who does these things must be penalized, but not just by losing a position. Marquez himself had complained to Bagnaia in Portimao, and P4-P5 was on the line. Here he was eighth-ninth and hit two, because he hit both Mir and Oliveira. He has to take a long lap penalty. Anyone who does these things should be punished. Whether he is first or last. They must be sporting decisions, not political ones. I think so. The pilots must at least agree on this, it's their life“. The clear accusation is that Marquez is somehow 'protected' by the commissioners by virtue of his superstar status.
