“The plane was accelerating and about to take off, and then we heard a knock,” said one of the passengers on the flight, Lisa Powell. “It didn’t seem scary.” We thought the tire had burst. But the pilot came up and said: “Something got into the engine and flames came out.”
The airport said in a statement that all passengers were able to safely disembark the plane and return to the terminal. Later they were sent to their destination on another board.
In March, the engine of a United Airlines plane with 167 passengers on board caught fire half an hour after takeoff. Eyewitnesses managed to shoot a video showing the flames.
