LColombian Mariajo Uribe played under par again on Thursday and remains in the fight for a medal in the women’s golf tournament at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, headed by Swiss Morgane Metraux.
According to the criteria of
Mariajo scored 70 strokes (-2), the same score as on the first day. She made a bogey on hole 7, but then recovered with birdies on 9, 13 and 18. The 140 strokes from the first two days have her in fourth place on the leaderboard, one away from a hypothetical bronze.
“I’m very happy with today’s round. I felt a little better than yesterday, I fought a little harder. The greens are costing me a little bit. We’ve already practiced, let’s see if we can make more putts this weekend, but we’re in contention,” Mariajo told Fedegolf.
“Finishing with a birdie on the 18th is very good for the mood and for what is to come. We continue to play aggressively, like the other days. We will see what happens, hopefully we can take advantage of the par 5s a little more. There are two days of fighting left,” he added.
It is worth remembering that this tournament will be the last of Uribe’s career, who made the decision to retire once her participation in Paris is over, at the age of 33. Her season was planned exclusively with the Olympics in mind, but along the way, she returned to triumph this year, winning the Women’s Open in New South Wales, Australia, in March. This tournament is part of the Ladies European Tour (LET).
