The medal arrived number 17 for the Mexican Delegation in the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games thanks to the efforts of Jose de Jesus Castillo who in the test of Powerlifting (Powerlifting) accumulated 222 kilograms which earned him the Bronze medal.
Mexico arrived at this last day of activity in Paris 2024 with the possibility of adding a couple more medals. José Castillo had that opportunity and he did not waste it. The Mexican jumped into the event with the goal of closing his participation by doing something historic and he achieved it.
The gold medal went to the representative of Iran, Aliakbar Gharibshabi who lifted 252 kilograms, while the silver medal went to the Mongolian Sodnompiljee Enjbayar who lifted 248 kg. As already mentioned, the Mexican took third place with 222 kilograms in the -107kg category.
With this medal, Mexico added its second medal in this discipline, the other bronze was achieved by the historic Amalia Pérez a few days ago. Thus, the Mexican delegation reached a total of 17 medals, 3 gold, 6 silver and 8 bronze to be currently 30th in the Medal Table, pending some other events.
Perla Bárcenas finished 7th
This very Sunday, Pearl Barcenas He also competed for a medal in the powerlifting final in the +86kg category. Unfortunately, things did not go so well for him and he could only aspire to 7th position, lifting 130 kilograms.
The Nigerian took the test Folashade Oluwafemiayo who lifted 167 kg, who also set a new world record. The silver went to the Chinese Deng Xuemei with a lift of 155 kg, and the bronze for Egypt Nadia Ali with 145 kilograms.
Thus, the Mexican Delegation concludes its participation in these Paralympic Games in Paris 2024. Now they will prepare for the Closing Ceremony that will take place this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. (Central Mexico).
