For this reason, the ”la Caixa” Foundation has promoted the project ‘Family Spaces 0-3‘an initiative of socio-educational support aimed at families in poverty who have sons and daughters between 0 and 3 years. Its objective is to promote parental skills and healthy parenting habits, empower parents and strengthen the psychomotor, cognitive and social development of girls and boys. In addition, they offer social support and activities, a support network and financial help to buy children’s food and hygiene products.
This initiative will be launched in about thirty spaces adapted to early childhood and already serves 1,500 families. It is currently being developed in Barcelona, Madrid, Málaga, Murcia, Las Palmas, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Seville, Valencia, Valladolid, Vizcaya and Zaragoza, and will gradually expand to all the territories where the program is developed. Since its creation in 2007, the CaixaProinfancia program has served more than 375,000 children. In the last year alone, 65,000 minors participated in its activitiesbelonging to 40,000 families from 145 municipalities. All this in the hands of 481 social entities that are responsible for assisting them directly, prioritizing aid and monitoring each case.
