Other members of the competitions, guide athletes, runners, pilots and helmsmen will receive 20% of the value of the highest medal won by their athlete and 10% of the value corresponding to each subsequent podium.
“The increase in prizes is in line with the evolution of Paralympic sport in Brazil. It is recognition of the work done by our athletes and multidisciplinary teams. We managed to reach such numbers thanks to our sponsors, especially Caixa Lotteries. If we had a historic campaign in Tokyo, with 72 podiums and the distribution of R$7 million in bonuses to our medalists, we hope to surpass all these marks in France. And judging by the results in the current cycle, we are fully capable of achieving these objectives”, declared the president of CPB, Mizael Conrado.
CPB expects to have around 250 athletes in Paris. So far, the Brazilian delegation for the Games in the French capital is made up of 150 athletes, who will compete for medals in the following modalities: athletics, swimming, sitting volleyball (men and women), goalball (men and women), blind football, cycling, horse riding, canoeing, rowing, taekwondo, shooting, archery, bocce and table tennis.
In the last edition of the Paralympics, in Tokyo (Japan), Brazil was represented by 235 athletes. The record number of Brazilian participants in an edition of the mega sporting event was in 2016, when Brazil hosted the mega event, with 278 athletes in all 22 sports.
