Those were the words of the Canadian Paralympic athlete Christine Gauthier, who has not been active at the elite level for five years, in the middle of a hearing in the Parliament of Canada on account of her complaint against the Veterans Affairs office, for the alleged negligence for install a wheelchair lift in your home. ‘We can offer you medical help in dying’
According to the press report, Gauthier assured that he has been asking for a wheelchair lift in his house for five years. However, at his insistence, the Veterans Affairs office, dependent on the Canadian government, would have offered him euthanasia.
“Regarding me, I have a letter in my file, because I also had to face that”declared the now ex-athlete about the offer of euthanasia from the mentioned agency.
“I sent a letter to Prime Minister Trudeau and I told him that they offered me euthanasia and would provide me with equipment“, he added.
According to the North American chain ‘CBS’, Gauthier did not provide details of the date of both letters: the one that would have been sent to her by Veterans and the one that she sent to J. Trudeau.
“We’re following up with the investigations and changing the protocols to ensure what should seem obvious to all of us: that it’s not the purpose of Veterans Affairs Canada, that it’s supposed to be there to support the people who gave a step forward to serve his country,” the British Prime Minister said about the complaint, according to ‘CBS’ review.
