With an event in Düsseldorf, Panasonic showed us a preview of all the new TVs in the 2024 line-up with Fire TV, including the top of the range OLED Z95A and Z93A.
Discover it, live it. With this claim on May 14, 2024 Panasonic has presented its 2024 lineup during a press event in Düsseldorf. Many TVs were the subject of the demonstration, with the spotlight remaining mainly on this year’s top of the range, the Z95A and Z93A OLED TVs, which for the first time replace the historic My Home Screen system, born from the ashes of Firefox TV, to adopt Amazon’s Fire OS. An epochal transition, which follows last year’s experiments, when the Japanese company installed the Amazon operating system on the MX800 series models.
But the change in operating system does not only affect the top of the range, but all of this year’s TVs, which have also undergone a change in nomenclature. Specifically, during the presentation we saw the 4K OLED TVs Z95A, Z93A, Z90A, Z85A, Z80A and the new 4K LED models W95A, W90A, W80A, W70A (with Google TV) and W60A (this one with TiVo operating system) in action. . Some entry-level LED models with HD resolution were also shown, consisting of four new Full HD Smart TVs: the S55A and S50A models, both with integrated Fire TV, and the S45A and S40A models, with TiVo OS. The offer is completed by the N30A model, a non-smart, easy-to-use television with 24″ and 32″ screens designed for children’s rooms or hotels.
But now let’s go into detail to discover more closely all the features of all Panasonic TVs this 2024.
Panasonic’s new 2K TVs
Let’s start from the last and cheapest on the list, namely the TVs of the S55A, S50A, S45A, S40A and N30A series. There N30A series, with HD Ready resolution, offers, as we were saying, 24″ and 32″ screens designed for hotels or children’s rooms. They are not smart TVs and connections are also limited to the HDMI 1.4 ARC interface and two HDMI ports. To confirm its primary purpose, the television also has a Hotel mode for hotel chains or small businesses, is easy to install and is compatible with a wide range of signals.
Let there be S55A/S50A series be it S45A/S40A series (all available in 24″, 32″ and 40″ formats) are equipped with the Panasonic HD Color Engine processor and have a Game Mode to ensure faster response times. Specifically, the S55A and S50A models have Fire TV integrated, complete with voice remote control with Alexa that allows you to easily launch apps, play music, search for titles and manage the smart home. The sound quality is also guaranteed by DTS Virtual HDR (HDR10/ HLG) allows you to play content with a wider dynamic range. The S40A and S45A Smart TVs are equipped with the TiVo operating system, an independent platform that manages the home screens from which to access the programs of the various platforms.
All of these entry-level models also have settings dedicated to different types of content, with the picture mode that can be changed for movies, sports, games and more, so you can optimize and personalize your viewing of any program; USB Media Player also allows you to personally manage the viewing experience and decide what to play on your televisions, simply by connecting the storage media.
Panasonic’s new 4K LED models
As mentioned at the beginning, Panasonic’s new 4K LED models are divided into 5 series: W95A, W90A and W80A with Fire TV, W70A with Google TV and W60A with TiVo operating system. The latter is the cheapest series among the 4K ones: the W60A LED TVs are equipped with Panasonic’s 4K Color Engine processor, support Multi HDR (HDR10, Dolby Vision 3, HLG), have the Game Control Board and also support Dolby Atmos for ‘audio. The HDMI 2.1 input gives access to the ALLM while eARC handles the audio devices. Made in 43, 50, 55 and 65 inch formats, the W60A series TVs will be available at authorized retailers later this year.
With the models of 4K W70A LED series Panasonic offers a Google TV option for those who prefer the Chromecast system to the Amazon one. The processor is the same 4K Color Engine as the W60A, with numerous picture modes, including a Filmmaker Mode, and Multi HDR support (HDR10, Dolby Vision 3, HLG). Gaming functions are guaranteed by HDMI 2.1 inputs with VRR and ALLM for low input lag. Available in 43″, 50″, 55″ and 65″ sizes, with a borderless design, the Google TV W70A series will be available by the end of 2024.
THE 4K Ultra HD TV W95A Mini LED panels, and those of W90A series with Full Array Local Dimming, are Panasonic’s 2024 top LED models with integrated Fire TV. The W95A TV will be available with 55″, 65″ and 75″ inch screens, while the W90A model with 43″, 50″, 55″ and 65″ inch screens, again by the end of 2024. Both series are cataloged under the “Panasonic Premium” label, which among others includes advanced gaming features already seen last year (low latency, Game Control Board that can be combined with the My App button, Extreme Game Mode and True Game mode, which is nothing more than a Filmmaker Mode for gaming), AMD FreeSync Premium certification and a refresh rate up to 144 Hzalso with Dolby Vision, perhaps the most important innovation in the Panasonic LED range this year.
In terms of usability, the Penta tuner, the channel sorting function and the My App button on the remote control stand out, for easy access to favourites. Here the processor is the most advanced HCX Pro AI MK II from Panasonic and combines with the FILMMAKER mode with proprietary Intelligent Sensing technology for a more immersive visual experience. These W95A and W90A models also have a built-in voice remote with Alexa.
“We have 70 years of experience in television engineering and are constantly striving to make our customers’ experience even better,” said Paul Darch, Director of Panasonic Consumer Europe, adding that “the extraordinary image quality of Our TVs bring a dynamic and cinematic experience into the homes of our customers who can enjoy films and television programs just as the production companies conceived them. Instead, we offer gamers the fastest response speed and the highest level of fluidity in playback high resolution”.
Going into detail about the panels of the two series, the Mini LED one present in the W95A model offers better backlight control thanks to Panasonic’s Local Dimming Ultra technology, which promises to minimize the so-called “halo effect” present on many LCD televisions; Quantum Dot Sheet technology should then further improve color reproduction and contrast.
As for the W90A model, the Full Array LED panel uses Local Dimming Supreme technology. The W95A and W90A TVs also support a series of HDR standards, such as Dolby Vision IQ and HDR 10+ Adaptive, and thanks to Artificial Intelligence, they are able to recognize when a sporting event, a live musical event or a film is being broadcast , to automatically adjust the picture and sound. Finally, on the audio side, Dolby Atmos is supported on both series, but the W95A TV adds Dynamic Theater Surround Sound technology with an extra subwoofer to push the bass.
Panasonic’s 4K OLED range
Finally we come to the 4K OLED range, which is also quite varied: in fact it includes the 4K Z95A, Z93A, Z90A, Z85A and Z80A series, all with Fire TV, Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support, Game Mode Extreme and AMD FreeSync Premium certified. The base model Z80A has the older HCX processor and is available in 65″ and 55″ formats, with HDMI 2.1 and VRR up to 120 Hz, while the other series are equipped with the new HCX Pro AI MK II processor and also have the G certificate -Sync Compatible. The frequency is limited to 120 Hz also for the Z85A series (available in 55″ and 65″ formats), but rises to 144 Hz for the higher models, where we find diversified panels: the Z90A series (available in 42″, 48″, 55″ and 65″) has the Master OLED Pro, the 77″ Z93A the Master OLED Pro Cinema and the 55″ and 65″ Z95A the Master OLED Ultimate, the only one with MLA (Micro Lens Array) technology for superior peak brightness.
The rest of the gaming functions are those already seen in the top of the LED range, therefore Game Mode Extreme, Game Control Board, HDMI 2.1 inputs (which unfortunately continue to be only two), but they add HDR image adjustment with Tone Mapping OFF which guarantees high brightness levels and detailed visibility, without excessively highlighting light flares and allows you to better adjust HDR games directly at the source, rather than from the TV. Finally, the Z95A and Z93A have audio modes dedicated to gaming, with adjustments designed based on the genre being played.
In the next few days we hope to tell you about our direct experience and we hope to have details on the distribution dates in Italy and final prices as soon as possible.
