There official response Of The Pokémon Company on the issue Palworld had been expected for days now: with the title continuing to make impressive numbers, it was only a matter of time before the company responsible for Pokémon took action on the suspicions of plagiarism of the Pocketpair game, and the communication arrived tonight in this regard, with the intention to investigate the game.
At the moment, this is only a preliminary announcement on the desire to see clearly, therefore it is not yet an accusation nor even a legal act, but it could represent a first step in one of the many actions in this sense carried out by The Pokémon Company and Nintendo for protect intellectual properties of companies, which have always been at the center of considerable attention.
“We have received several reports regarding a game published by another company in January 2024,” the communication reads, “We have not granted any permission to use the Pokémon intellectual property or related assets in that game. We intend to investigate and take appropriate measures to respond to any acts that infringe our rights to Pokémon-related intellectual properties.”
The Pokémon Company distances itself from Palworld
The final part of the message then sounds like a desire to distance yourself from the atmospheres of Palworld, making it clear how certain derivatives of the Pocketpair game have nothing to do with the original world of Pokémon.
“We will continue to cherish and nurture each individual Pokémon and its world, and work to unite the world through Pokémon in the future.” This is clearly a reference to the desire to detach the original idea of Pokémon from that bloodier seen in Palworld, which carries out a sort of parody of the creatures in question with the possibility of making them fight with weapons, use them for various jobs and even slaughter them (which also concerns humans).
It was easy to expect such a move from The Pokémon Company, considering the long history of lawsuits moves by the company and Nintendo for the protection of intellectual properties, and at the moment we are still at a preliminary stage.
Already in recent days a mod that inserted real Pokémon into Palworld has been eliminated, and others of the kind have been removed from NexusMods, furthermore various fans and experts have begun to investigate the possibility that the game actually contains elements attributable to plagiarism, such as The reuse of assets and models 3D, although the investigation will probably still take a long time.
Meanwhile, Palworld has exceeded 7 million copies sold for the PC version alone, and over 2 million players simultaneously online on Steam.
