Palestinian Permanent Representative Mansour: UN Security Council must call for a ceasefire in Gaza
The UN Security Council must “stop schizophrenia” and adopt a document calling for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. This demand was made by the permanent representative of Palestine to the world organization, Riyad Mansour, as quoted by TASS.
“This schizophrenia needs to stop, the whole world is calling for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire,” said a Palestinian diplomat.
According to the permanent representative, the UN Security Council condemns attacks against the civilian population of Gaza and calls for humanitarian assistance, but does not demand the truce necessary to achieve all these goals.
Earlier, the head of European diplomacy of the European Union, Josep Borrell, called on the international community to take steps to establish a truce and “end the suffering of the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip.”
