There was also one of the lesser-known Google Stadia exclusives Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battlea particular 64 player multiplayer which, apparently, has never managed to reach its full potential since according to Steam statistics it has not never reached 64 players at the same time online.
This obviously doesn’t apply to consoles, given that we don’t have a precise tracking system regarding the amount of active users on them, but according to SteamDB data this sad picture emerges on Steamfor a title that could have some very interesting features.
For a battle royale designed for 64 users to compete, the fact that it has never reached that quota is clear paradoxicalalthough obviously the title is still functional through the use of bots and characters managed by artificial intelligence.
A paradoxical flop
Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle was launched in November 2020 as a Google Stadia exclusive, but was deactivated with the closure of the videogame streaming service and Bandai Namco then brought it to PC and consoles on May 9th.
There new version it’s called Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle: Chomp Champs and it looks completely similar to the original version but with some additional content and more modes, as well as some changes and updates.
According to what SteamDB found, his maximum peak was 52 playersreached right at launch, but from then on the numbers went downhill until they fell below 10, therefore far from the standard that would be required to at least be able to compose a true fully multiplayer game for the game.
We’ll see if Bandai Namco can get Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle: Chomp Champs back on track and have the game at least reach its maximum potential of 64 players online at this point.
