The relatives fear that the court will accept the request of the Polish Prosecutor’s Office to prolong the detention in preventive detention and cry for a fair trial
The partner of the journalist Pablo González, Oihana Goiriena, has asked the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, to intercede so that he can have a “fair” defense and trial and that his rights be respected. González has been in preventive detention in Poland since February 28 accused of espionage.
Following the request of the Polish Public Prosecutor’s Office to prolong Pablo González’s pre-trial detention, a request that will be examined by the Przemysl regional court next Tuesday, the 23rd, Goiriena lamented that this new measure will be accepted, as well as than the previous ones against the journalist.
“They have not presented new evidence, but if what they have was enough for them three months ago to prolong preventive detention, I think that this time they will also admit it and they will have to comply, even if it seems absurd and sounds incredible,” he said, in statements to Radio Euskadi.
only letters
González’s family has only been able to communicate with him through letters. “We still cannot speak directly with him. Phone calls have not yet been allowed, visits have not been allowed either, and communication is through letters, but letters that arrive two months late. This week I have received two and they are between June 15 and 19, ”Goiriena reported.
From reading these letters, his partner notes that González is in “good” health, but “a little sad” in spirits. “He feels alone, it’s very hard for him, especially without talking to us,” he said.
