CDMX.- Andrés López Beltrán thanked the congressmen for having named him as the new Secretary of Organization of Morena and assured that his work will be to keep his father’s legacy alive.
“First of all, I accept the nomination and I am grateful for the nomination of comrade Héctor Vasconcelos to be the next Secretary of Organization of our party. For me, these are moments of difficult interpretation, because I am very pleased to begin my career here, but it makes me very sad to do so at the same time that our top leader is retiring.
“We all know that he will continue to be present in this party with his example, with his legacy. Our job at the head of this secretariat will be to maintain that legacy,” he said. López Beltrán, who was elected this afternoon at the party’s National Congress, recalled that his father, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, is retiring from politics and that he will be replaced by Claudia Sheinbaum, but not him.
“She is retiring. She said she would retire when there was a generational change. And I want us all to understand that when we talk about a change, we are talking about our President-elect, our colleague Claudia Sheinbaum,” she added.
