The spokesperson for the Generalitat and Minister of Territory, Sílvia Paneque, announced yesterday after the meeting with the Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente in Madrid, that the Government will approve in the next Council of Ministers a batch of 710 million euros to improve Catalan roads. Specifically the AP-2, the AP-7, the B-40 and the N-260, reports EP.
Transport said yesterday that what will be approved will be agreements to improve the connectivity of the AP-2 and AP-7, the functionality of the Pyrenean Axis (N-260) and for the construction of the North Ring Road, which will provide continuity to the B-40 corridor between Terrassa and Sabadell. And he highlighted that these actions “will entail a very substantial improvement of the road infrastructure in Catalonia and a boost to its mobility and connectivity,” said Puente.
It will be the Generalitat, according to Transport, that will promote and draft the necessary projects and studies and will tender and execute the works, while the State will give the Generalitat the financing funds through annual transfers.
For his part, Paneque reiterated the “institutional loyalty” of the Government to the Government, although he stressed that they will be “demanding” from Catalonia: “Because there are many issues that we have to implement and move forward, but in any case always with a good tone and cordially”. The Catalan spokesperson has assured that there is “good predisposition” on the part of the minister, who has valued his “commitment to improving infrastructure.”
Joint venture model for Rodalies
The spokesperson for the Generalitat also assured that before the end of the year will transfer a mixed company model, Generalitat-Government, for the management of the transfer to Catalonia of the Rodalies train service.
Paneque said that the commitment was to have that model before the end of 2024 and they maintain it. “We are working internally from the Ministry with the legal services for the statutes of the new mixed company,” he indicated after the meeting with Puente at the Ministry.
The Catalan counselor also explained that a working group will be activated to address the situation of the Rodalies workers, to “continue listening to the union forces, their representatives and see what is the best way to fit their demands into this transfer.” ».
In this regard, Transport has indicated that the meeting analyzed the evolution of the work associated with the comprehensive transfer of the train service, which will continue to be carried out according to the planned schedule.
Government and Generalitat, as reported by the Ministry in a note, have agreed to soon convene the meeting of the monitoring commission for the transfer. Likewise, a meeting will be called with the Renfe and Adif union associations to address labor aspects.
