Adif confirms that normality has been recovered after 18,000 people have been affected by train cancellations and modifications
The Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente, has disconnected the Madrid Cercanías and high-speed cuts this Sunday with the Valencian Community and Murcia from the alleged “lack of investment” in the railway network.
He said this in an interview on La 2 and Ràdio 4 collected by Europa Press, after normality in circulation was restored this Monday. after 18,000 people have been affected due to train cancellations and modifications.
It all started with the derailment of a train in the tunnel that connects Chamartín and Atocha, on Saturday, and shortly after the suspension of traffic throughout the base due to the presence of a man who threatened to jump onto the tracks. The biggest problems were recorded in Chamartín, from where 22 Renfe trains, six from Ouigo and four from Iryo were due to leave for the Valencian Community and Murcia.
The minister already pointed out this Sunday that the causes of the accident will be investigated since, in his words, It was not normal at all: “It is something truly serious that a train that is being towed to workshops breaks off as it seems to have broken off from the train that was towing it and ends up against a tunnel wall.”
