He Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente, has assured that the High Speed between Madrid and Valencia will be operational “at most” in 15 dayssince in one of the two affected tunnels, the Torrent one, no damage has occurred “beyond the flooding.” This was indicated this Friday in an interview on the RNE program ‘Las Mañanas’, where he detailed that the Chiva tunnel of this railway line must be rebuilt.
Puente explained that in this line we have to replace 1.2 kilometers of track and that yesterday, Thursday, they had the “good news” to be able to access the Torrent tunnel, “completely flooded”, in which they verified that the damage is not significant. He also commented that the work focuses on the reconstruction of the Chiva tunnel track, which together with the Torrent tunnel is the most affected.
He Minister has indicated that the Government has already approved 13 million euros to begin “urgently” restoring the A7, which is closed and impossible to transit, and it is expected that in 10 or 12 days it can be opened to traffic at a limited speed thanks to the installation of some “boxes”.
“The works started yesterday, we cannot go faster”has insisted on the minister, who has once again stressed that the situation is “tremendously serious”, with 80 kilometers of the state’s road network affected by the DANA. Puente has also announced 12.2 million euros for the repair of the N-322 and has recalled that the A3 is only open for emergency services, but you have to circulate “essing” due to the damage and the accumulation of vehicles . The most serious damage is concentrated in the Valencia commuter network, since of the five existing lines, three have disappeared, especially C3, with 45 kilometers of which “nothing can be recovered.”
It was “very likely” that this Todos los Santos Bridge would break the record for high-speed travelers In Spain and only for the line between Madrid and Valencia, more than 100,000 tickets had been sold, according to the minister, who added that that is “the least important thing” now.
Despite the interruption in high speed, “the most serious problem is nearby”, Puente warned. He specified that three lines “have disappeared.” In C-3, of a 90-kilometer route, 45 of them are “devastated” and practically the entire line will have to be rebuilt, according to the minister. Something similar happens in C-1 and C-2, while C-5 and C-6 “are already operational.”
He minister He explained that alternative transportation plans will be established nearby, but that, at the moment, “we cannot even consider” this option, through the roads because they are not operational. He minister took the opportunity to urge the population to not move because they need the roads that are open for emergencies.
He once again emphasized that “We are a decentralized country” and with “clear competencies” and for this reason it is the Generalitat that manages the aid, with the collaboration of the central Government. “Things are done better hand in hand,” he noted.
About the sanitation infrastructurehas highlighted that both the supply and supply lines are “seriously damaged”, so “it will take a long time” for normality to be restored and we must look for “alternative channels” and they are focusing all their efforts on that.
