Ojanaho was joined by seven teams in the anchor section.
Finland the medal balance in the junior world championships in orienteering increased to two on Tuesday, when Salla Isoherranen, Sampo Sankelo, Aarni Ronkainen and Eeva-Liina Ojanaho achieved bronze in the sprint relay.
Finland, which was in the medal fight for the entire relay, lost to Hungary, who won the competition, by 27 seconds. The championship for Hungary was already decided by the runner who won the World Championship gold in Monday’s sprint Rita Maramarosiwho was unstoppable in the anchor section of the sprint relay.
Finland’s anchor Ojanaho was accompanied by seven teams for the last leg.
“The teammates played in a wonderful place. The first part got a bit confusing, as the gap between the buildings I had to go through seemed surprisingly small. On top of all that, I ran past it a bit,” Ojanaho told Suunnistusliitto on the website.
“There was time to lose the lead that the three orienteers of the previous leg had acquired. It was a bit sad.”
The WC bronze was Ojanaho’s second of the Games, as he was also third in Monday’s sprint. The World Cup will be held in Baia Mare, Romania.
