Just four days before the MWC kicks off, the presentations of the technological giants begin. Oppo, the fourth largest mobile manufacturer on the planet, has unveiled its new flagships this Thursday, which stand out for ultra-fast charging and more powerful cameras. The brand has gone from the Find X3 Pro, a phone with a powerful microscope capable of showing details unnoticed by the human eye, to the new Oppo Find X5. Thus, four is skipped, considered the unlucky number in China because it sounds almost the same as the word for death in their language.
The Oppo Find X5 Pro is available in white and black from 1,299 euros. Its design is quite similar to its predecessor. It has a well-integrated asymmetric camera module at the back thanks to slight curvatures on its sides. The manufacturer claims to have been inspired by a spaceship to shape the terminal. In theory, it takes more than 168 hours to manufacture the ceramic back panel, which is resistant to splashes, water and dust.
The large 6.7-inch curved AMOLED screen has a refresh rate that reaches 120 Hz. This parameter refers to the number of times the screen is updated per second. Therefore, the higher it is, the more fluid scrolling between screens feels, although it also consumes more battery. The refresh rate of most high-end mobiles on the market also reaches 120 Hz. In the photographic section, the manufacturer has collaborated with Hasselblad, one of the most reputable manufacturers in the field of photographic cameras that, in addition, photographed the arrival on the Moon. The Oppo Find X5 Pro looks for a way to stand up to the most powerful mobiles from technological giants such as Apple or Samsung. In addition to a 32-megapixel front camera, it incorporates three rear sensors: a 50-megapixel main one, a 50-megapixel wide-angle and a 13-megapixel telephoto.
Oppo has developed MariSilicon X, an image processor that uses artificial intelligence to achieve better captures and videos with less noise, more light and better color – especially at night. The result is, in the company’s own words, “a fourfold improvement in the perceived resolution of night video, less grain, and superior color reproduction.”
The terminal is compatible with 5G networks and incorporates the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, the latest from Qualcomm for the high-end. In addition, it has 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. The battery is 5,000 mAh —compared to the 4,500 mAh of its predecessor— and the fast charge is 80W. “It will take you the same time to have a coffee as to have your phone ready,” says the company. Supposedly, the user can charge the mobile to 50% in just 12 minutes and to 100% in 47 minutes.
The little brother of the Oppo Find X5 Pro
The Chinese brand has also presented the Oppo Find X5 this Thursday, a somewhat smaller terminal that is available in black and white from 999 euros. Its 6.55-inch screen has a refresh rate that also reaches 120 Hz. Although the design is similar to that of its older brother, in this case the back has a somewhat more discreet finish in matte glass that, in theory, it repels fingerprints.
Like the Chinese giant’s most powerful mobile, the Oppo Find X5 has a 50-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel wide-angle and a 13-megapixel telephoto camera. The front sensor is 32 megapixels. This terminal, which is also compatible with 5G, incorporates the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The battery is somewhat less ambitious, 4800mAh, and Oppo promises 80W to charge the phone in 34 minutes.
