SAO PAULO (Reuters) – The National Electric System Operator (ONS) on Friday reduced the forecast of rains for the country’s hydroelectric dam regions, even though it maintained the capacity forecast in the Southeast/Center-West region amid the expectation of a weaker electrical charge.
Hydroelectric reservoirs in the Southeast and Midwest are expected to reach 58.4% of their capacity in February, unchanged from the previous week, with rains where the main lakes are expected to be 103% of the historical average, compared to 108% of the published expectation. Last Friday.
The ONS also predicted that rainfall would exceed the historical average in the Northeast and North, but reduced, respectively, the forecast of rainfall, to 164% (compared to 169%) and 130% (compared to 133%).
As for the South, which has been facing adverse weather conditions, the projection has worsened to 34% of the historical average, versus 38% in the previous week.
Regarding the energy load in Brazil, the ONS now predicts a certain stability (+0.1%) in February, compared to an increase of 2.1% in the previous week.
