A week after the murder of Social Educator Belén Cortés, the city of Badajoz continues to accumulate news that only increases controversy. As Cope Badajoz has advanced, this Sunday, a minor has tried to attack a social educator.
In this case, the attempt of aggression has occurred at the Marcelo Nessi Children’s Center, which, as this newspaper advanced days ago, also does not stop accumulating controversies, after a month with three mutiny attempts. This center has also been the focus of numerous protests and demonstrations before and, above all, after the violent death of Bethlehem.
Precisely, in Marcelo Nessi, the three young people – between 14 and 17 years old – accused of the homicide of Belén Cortés in a protected floor of the Guadiana urbanization, fulfill an internal week. The three face crimes of homicide, robbery with violence and against road safety. One of them, the child of 15 years, is the one who allegedly had tried to assault one of the center’s workers.
Social workers, outraged
The murder of Belén Cortés has generated a wave of protests and demonstrations throughout Spain and, more if it fits, in Extremadura. Last Friday, 600 people concentrated in front of the Ministry of Social Services of the Board of Extremadura with a unanimous cry: “We are Bethlehem!” The unions claim that it is not an isolated event and that the administration must take action on the matter, reinforcing the security and working conditions of the sector. However, next Saturday, March 22, a new demonstration is expected in the city of Badajoz.
