A 46-year-old man was arrested this morning in Valencia as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of public disorder and serious disobedience after the disturbances that occurred at the end of the soccer match between the València Club de Futbol and the Unión Deportiva Las Palmas.
The events began around 11 p.m. this Monday, after the end of the sporting event, when a group of fans gathered at the main access door to the stadium to show their disagreement with the result of the match as well as the tense situation in which The Valencia Football Club is located.
The agents of the Police Intervention Unit -UIP-, together with the Provincial Information Brigade of the Higher Police Headquarters of the Valencian Community, intervened around 11:45 p.m. to control the disturbances that occurred around the stadium. Mestalla in which a group of people have caused a series of public disorders by creating a barricade with urban containers to throw objects such as stones and tiles at the Police.
Due to these incidents, in which a group of about 250 people, some with their faces covered to avoid being identified, have created a barricade joining several containers to throw objects at the Police, requiring the intervention of the Valencia fire service to extinguish a fire caused by part of that urban furniture, leaving one of the containers used burned on the public road.
In order to restore public order, guarantee the safety of other people and avoid further damage to public furniture, the agents have had to use the minimum necessary force to disperse this group of people who, after leaving the main entrance of the stadium , they headed to the confluence of Sweden Avenue and Artes Gráficas Street to wait for the team players to leave in their vehicles.
Later, this same group reorganized on Micer Mascó Street where the events occurred in which one person was arrested. In addition, a complaint was filed for Organic Law 4/2015 on the protection of citizen security and seven people were identified.
Investigations continue in order to identify the rest of those involved in the events.
