The events occurred on Saturday, February 11, when a group of Red Cross paramedics from the Tijuana delegation responded to an emergency call in the state capital of Baja California, in Mexico. The patient, identified as María de Jesús Cárdenas Castillo, had already died at home.
In the video, captured by security cameras, you can see how the man looks inside a bag, takes out what appear to be bills, wraps them in a glove and puts the cash in the back pocket of his pants. All this while the body of the deceased woman remained sitting in the place.

After learning about the case, the Red Cross issued a statement in which it said: “On February 11 of this year, during the care of an ambulance service, one of the crew members who intervened in the care committed an offense that compromises the integrity of our institution and the trust in the work we do in the community.” In addition, they indicated that the subject was discharged from his organization.
On the other hand, according to information from the local newspaper ‘El Mexicano’, the theft was about 45,000 Mexican pesos (approximately 12 million Colombian pesos), which have not yet appeared. “The children of the person who died have already appeared before the Prosecutor’s Office and it has begun with the data and evidence, an investigation with which we believe we already have the necessary weight to take this person to a judicial body”, indicated the Central Prosecutor of Tijuana, Edgar Mendoza, to the aforementioned newspaper.
According to the Mexican authorities, the crime can cost the subject up to 16 years in prison and a fine to repair the damage.
