Olympic Games Finland is predicted to have a historic poor success in Beijing – Iivo Niskanen is awarded a gold medal, Lions go home empty-handed

American has been published by the news agency AP their forecasts Of all the medalists at the Beijing Olympics. It is estimated that the Finnish team will win three medals in the competitions starting this week.

According to AP, it brings gold to Finland Iivo Niskanenwhich is claimed to be a 15-kilometer traditional-style break in winning cross-country skiing before Russia Alexander Bolshunov and Norway Johannes Hösflot Kläboa.

Silver is promised from the men’s double print. Joni Mäki and Ristomatti Hakola also skied for Finnish silver last year at the World Championships in Oberstdorf.

Finland is promised a third medal in women’s hockey, where a very familiar third place is predicted for the Lions after Canada and the USA.

The men’s hockey team, on the other hand, is not promised success. In the AP listing, the men’s puck gold goes to Canada ahead of the Russian Olympic Committee team and the US.

Also statistics site Gracenote offers Finland the same balance of three medals. Gracenote’s analysis does not specify where the Finnish medals come from.

For Finland, a three-medal winter catch would be historically bad. Only the 1932 Lake Placid Olympics, to which only a team of seven traveled from Finland, have returned home with an equally small medal catch.

Four years ago, in Pyeongchang, Finland achieved a total of six medal positions, which were crowned with 50 kilometers of Iivo Niskanen’s gold.

For Norway, the AP, in turn, predicts a historic catch of 20 gold, and Gracenote even more generous 21 gold medals. To date, one country has won 14 gold medals at its best in one Winter Olympics. Norway was able to do this four years ago in Pyeongchang and Canada in 2010 in Vancouver.
