The Noble M500 succeeds the M600 introduced in 2010 as the only model in the range of the small craft manufacturer, although this time it is positioned slightly lower. Founded in 1999 by engineer Lee Noble (who left the company in 2008), the brand, according to Autocar, is undergoing the latest dynamic validation tests and is committed to making first deliveries to customers in 2022.
Ford GT-power, or almost
While the M600 relied on a 650 hp Volvo-origin biturbo V8, its successor relies on the biturbo V6 from the Ford GT. That should be good for ‘about’ 500 hp in the Noble. In 2022 that sounds very ‘reasonable’ for a supercar, but the M500 should make up for that with a very low weight. Noble is aiming for 1,250 kilograms for the final production version, thanks in part to a body made of glass fiber reinforced composite material or (optionally) carbon fiber. The latter covers a tubular steel chassis that was largely taken over from the M600. The engine is therefore again centrally located.
Manual gearbox
The M500 promises old-school driving pleasure. For his suspension, he uses double triangles all around and passive shock absorbers and he is also equipped with a – hydraulic – power steering, but he does it without airabgs or ABS, let alone other driver assistance systems. Moreover, it is also only available with a manual gearbox with six ratios and a wonderfully old-fashioned metal grid.
The only modernity is a digital instrument panel, which, however, is limited to the essentials. At the top of the center console, however, we also see a central infotainment screen, as well as a touch control screen for the climate control, but we have no further details about that.
In terms of performance, the M500 should match its predecessor. The top speed should be slightly above 300 km/h. Noble is counting on a production of about 50 copies per year and wants to keep the sales price around 150,000 British pounds. However, the order book has not yet been opened. So those who are interested still have some time to save. Keep in mind that given Brexit, it will not be easier to provide this – moreover right-hand drive – exotic with a Belgian number plate.
