On the eve of election day on June 2, where millions of Mexicans will go out to elect their new leaders, the Valley of Mexico area is preparing to avoid vehicle restrictions, despite the weather conditions.
This afternoon, the Megalopolis Environmental Commission (Came) has clarified that, due to the elections, no vehicle restrictions will be applied in the Metropolitan Zone of the Valley of Mexico (ZMVM) on Sunday, June 2.
This measure allows all cars to circulate freely during voting day, and there is no pretext for people to go and exercise their vote, as dictated by the Law.
Facilitating citizen participation
The decision to lift vehicle restrictions is aimed at facilitate the inhabitants of Mexico City and the State of Mexico to go to the polls of the National Electoral Institute (INE) to exercise their right to vote.
“The population can exercise their free right to vote,” Came said in an official statement. This measure seeks to guarantee that all citizens have the opportunity to participate in the electoral process without impediments related to mobility.
However, despite the election day, the environmental authorities will remain vigilant regarding air quality in the ZMVM. This monitoring is crucial to guarantee the health and well-being of the population, especially in a context where air pollution is a constant concern.
On June 2, Mexican citizens will have the opportunity to exercise their right to vote, where more than 20,708 popularly elected positions will be elected in Mexico, which are: Presidency of the Republic, 500 deputies, 128 senators, 9 governorships , 1,098 congressmen, 1,802 municipal presidencies, 431 auxiliary positions, 1,975 trusteeships and 14,764 council members.
