Néstor Araujo is a new Club América player. The Eagles confirmed this information through their social networks. In a publication, the azulcrema team welcomed the 30-year-old central defender. The soccer player from Guadalajara, Jalisco, will return to Liga MX after four years at Celta de Vigo in LaLiga. Araujo is the second confirmed signing of the Coapa squad for Apertura 2022.
According to various journalistic reports, to achieve the hiring of Araujo, América would have offered the center-back a more lucrative contract than the one he had with the Galician team. Initially, the Cruz Azul youth squad was looking to stay at least another six months in European football to reach the 2022 Qatar World Cup at a high level, however, the Eagles’ offer ended up convincing him.
Néstor Araujo played 135 games with Celta de Vigo and scored four goals for this institution. According to the Transfermarkt portal, the central defender is valued at 4 million euros. The Eagles would have paid a figure close to this to get the services of the Mexican soccer player.
América will be Araujo’s third team in Liga MX, after playing with Cruz Azul and Santos Laguna. During the last two tournaments, the capital squad has had problems in the low table. Araujo arrives to strengthen this area of the field, which has Sebastián Cáceres, Jorge Meré and Bruno Valdez.
