System Designer Aimo Kari Hämäläinen died on August 3, 2023 in Espoo, broken by cancer. He was 73 years old, born on November 2, 1949 in Hirvensalmi.
Hämäläinen was from Paavolainen's literary family through his mother and Marttinen's military family through his father. He had an inexhaustible interest in social phenomena and literature. He controlled the “red thread” of history.
However, mathematics was Hämäläinen's real gift and Hämäläinen's gift to mathematics.
Hämäläinen graduated in 1968 from Mikkeli co-educational school. At the University of Technology (TKK) he studied construction technology and at the University of Helsinki, mathematics and data processing. His military rank was second lieutenant.
After completing his LuK degree, Hämäläinen returned to TKK in 1982. In the ship laboratory, he studied ocean ship accidents as an application designer and taught mathematics to engineers. He coached friends in math for yo writings with commendable results.
In the year 1991 Hämäläinen was invited to Viatek as a database manager. Together with a few colleagues, they founded Viasys Oy (later Vianova Oy) in 1999. Hämäläinen was an Oracle and systems expert, system designer and programmer. He did the company's most demanding programming work, specializing in the most difficult calculation algorithms for road and track design. He had the best knowledge in Finland about them.
Hämäläinen planned many road and rail projects and calculated the masses of complex infrastructure projects with the programs he created. He had a unique ability to write directly in machine language that a computer can understand, but it is very difficult for a human. Hämäläinen's handprint also remains in life, because a well-made program takes time. His initials, AHae, are familiar from the source codes of several software.
Aimo was calm and good-natured, appreciated by the work community, who gave advice to customers and colleagues without asking, without looking at the clock. They all have only positive memories of Aimo.
In summer 1973 Aimo met Sisko in Hämik. That was the beginning of a 50-year life together. They got married, and in 1992 daughter Anna was born.
As a family, we enjoyed traveling. We started in Sicily in 1981. Memories include e.g. a stage-rich bus trip through the mountain roads of Bulgaria and Turkey to Istanbul. Later, the Canary Islands became like a second home for the family.
Aimo retired in 2012, and the birthplace became even more important. A lot of time was spent in Hirvensalmi's second home. The gym and studying Spanish were important to him. We picked berries, went jogging and boated to nearby islands, where we skied in the winter. Aimo prepared delicious dishes for family and friends. He especially liked Muiuki. Our two cats added to the coziness.
I intend to a bright look was always in the future. He listened to music and filled in crossword puzzles until the last one. When it became clear that life could soon end, he continued to write us instructions for future practical matters.
Ami was Sisko's rock, who loved her family. The close circle also included a sister. Grateful for the time together, we now try to continue life with the power of dear memories.
