A massacre was recorded in a Nursing home in a small town in Croatia, where a former police officer opened fire and killed five elderly people and an employee; among the victims was the attacker’s mother.
The events occurred this Monday, in a nursing home, located in the city of Daruvar, 130 km from the capital Zagreb, in the region of Slavonia in Croatia.
According to initial reports, shared by local media, the attacker entered the nursing home and opened fire on the people who were there, among the victims was his mother.
Following the brutal attack, the national police director, Nikola Milina, confirmed the death of six people, of whom five were elderly and the sixth an employee; one of the six victims died in hospital.

Through social media, it was also reported that, in addition to the deceased, eight people were injured and had to be transferred to a hospital.
The suspected perpetrator of the massacre was arrested armed shortly after the incident in a cafe, Milina added.
Local media reported that the alleged killer was a former police officer born in 1973 and added that he had previously been arrested for public order and domestic violence offences.

The AFP agency described the massacre as one of the worst in the history of Croatia, a country of 3.8 million people.
Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said he was “shocked” by the incident in a message posted on social media, in which he expressed his condolences to the families of the victims.
Around midday, in front of the establishment, where about 20 elderly people live, about 30 people were waiting behind a police cordon, an AFP correspondent observed.
“The unprecedented and brutal crime committed in Daruvar shocked me,” Croatian President Zoran Milanovic wrote on Facebook.
