Congratulations because you are the queen of TikTok, how are you doing? How is this new stage in your life going?
A: Thank you very much. Well, very good and very calm indeed. Because in reality it is not that new, already in my last stage at Mediaset, before leaving, I already had my TikTok account and it was already growing a lot. We had known for months that things were not going well and that in the end prepares you and I was already focused on other things.
Have you had a moment of having a hard time due to the uncertainty of not knowing what was going to happen to your future job?
A: No, if I’m honest, no, because the truth is that I was very clear about what I wanted to do and how I was already heading towards that, I was already calm, I had an unconscious mentality of ‘everything will be fine’, I I live a little in positivism like this, and hey, one day I’ll hit myself, but for now I’m doing fine like this.
How do you start your TikTok account? Was it something organic or did one day you consider taking it seriously and doing your part to make it grow?
A: Well, it all starts when I am on Socialité going to work only one day a week and I realize that it falls short, and that I arrive at the program on the weekend and I feel rusty, so I started doing TikTok to train. To keep my mind awake, to look for the news, for everything… And of course, that’s also my space and I can say what I think and it started to be very fun, and then came the ‘Royal salseo’ that hit it from the minute One, it was born in a very organic way and until today, two years have passed.
How much work do the videos you upload take? Is it something that takes you a lot of time?
A: Well, it depends on the video, there are some that are a reaction to what just happened, although I shy away from being the spokesperson for the news, and that you can find in my account what you find on any portal. I try to go more analytically, to the context, even to the opinion. So the videos have an editing job, just like any TV video; documentation, script, writing and editing. I’m always listening to podcasts, reading history books or whatever to look for things that might be interesting to tell… then of course, there are videos that take me half a day of work.
Have you put aside projects that have emerged in recent months so as not to take time away from networks and TV, which you are also working on?
A: Yes, there are things that have come up for which maybe I had to go to Madrid and in the end I live in Barcelona and losing a whole day of work does not compensate me, so there are times when well… now I am in a moment where I want to direct my career towards others and then I have to say no.
Where do you want to go? What do you feel like doing?
A: Current affairs with humor. That’s what I like and what I know how to do. Even on TikTok, even if a serious topic is discussed, there is always a moment for relaxation or to do it in a slightly more informal way, because I am a journalist, I have experience of 20 years or more, I don’t know, but what I want to do is entertain. I want you to find out what has happened through me, but at the same time have fun, have a good time and provide you with a critical point of view in which you can ask yourself questions about what has happened and not worry. you are only on the surface.
Many times you get wet, you give your opinion, have you received a lot of ‘hate’?
A: A lot. For example, with Shakira, when she separated and everything happened, I defended her a lot, out of empathy, because I think it was hard for her, and now there are times when I am critical, for example with the whole issue of the Treasury, what she says in the songs, for example I didn’t like the song with Bizarrap because it raised the flag of feminism but put Clara Chía’s name on the table when it was someone anonymous, it seemed a little disproportionate to me. So well, although I had defended her before, I didn’t like other things and I can’t agree with everything a person does just because I supported them in something, and this is not understood very well, and I had a lot of ‘hate’.
Also with Harry and Meghan, I can’t understand their role, and since it’s my TikTok, that’s what I say. And if I criticize them because I criticize them and if I say something good, that’s why, but well, in the end it’s egagement, I’m used to it, and I already know that there are people who only consume networks to correct, who only go to the slightest error, and they are people who have never made a video in their life.
Have you ever experienced a difficult episode because of what they told you online?
A: Yes, with personal things. It is true that I publish very little personal things, but a while ago I did because I have a neurological problem going up and down stairs, I have to hold on to a railing because I lose my balance, and for a while they did all kinds of tests and I was very worried. I mentioned it because many times there are people who have also gone through it and have helped me, but of course, there were people who wrote to me to tell me ‘that’s multiple sclerosis’, and I even argued with a girl, I had a bad time, I was afraid. It wasn’t sclerosis, I have been diagnosed as a phobia that I have to treat at some point, but of course, it seemed crazy to me that people dared to say something like that, and it made me understand that there are people who I don’t want to share certain things about. his life.
From the little we know about your private life is that you have been in love and happy for a long time, and that you were looking for an apartment in Barcelona. How is all that going?
A: Well, I’m still in love and happy and I’m still without an apartment in Barcelona. Things are at such prices that at this point I want the apartment I choose to have something special… when I talk about something special I mean a small balcony, a mini terrace, space for a bidet in the sink and a two-door refrigerator , which I don’t think I’m asking for much in this life either. We are in it, looking for something that we like and well… I can’t understand how we have arrived at the aggressiveness that exists in the real estate market, the pressure to which they subject you if you like a flat that you have to decide at the moment if you want it. or if not without time to think, to that of people who come from other countries to speculate here and that everything is allowed here and that no one says anything, that we do not complain, we only complain on networks, from the sofa and from a anonymous profile, not for the things that matter.
What is Nuria Marín like when no one sees her and no camera records?
A: Well, look, I am very much at home, very much about being at home quietly, doing household chores, which I really like, I am very athletic, I really like reading and consuming series and movies. I am very homely, so is my boyfriend, we can both perfectly spend a weekend locked up at home all weekend without going out and we are happy. And the truth is that I have a super normal, very normal life. I also like meeting people, I am sociable, but I really like being at home, cultivating myself, growing intellectually, challenging myself, understanding things I don’t understand, sometimes I get obsessed with things, it has happened to me several times with the Middle East , I want to understand what happens there and I read books, watch documentaries… And so I get immersed in things and continually seek intellectual growth. I respect everyone’s opinion and I do not intend to make anyone change nor do I feel attacked because they think differently, so when someone calls me out on my opinion I think that person has a coexistence problem first. And then when they ask me for photos and they stop me and I love it, I stop to talk to people, I take photos, whatever, I love that they go to Palaces around the world and tag me on Instagram or create Hello needs for me Kitty, I have a very good relationship with my community and the people on the street, the encounters, are usually positive and enriching.
