Who would have suspected that an 80-year-old nun would have embezzled $835,000 from the Catholic school of which she was principal for 28 years to spend in Las Vegas? This is what happened to the American Mary Margaret Kreuper, who was arrested and confessed to her crimes in court.
“I have sinned, I have broken the law and I have no excuses,” Kreuper declared at his trial, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The Californian publication also says that, confronted by the local archdiocese, the nun said that women earn less than priests and, therefore, needed a raise.
Lawyer Mark Byrne declared that Kreuper was addicted to gambling. The nun spent her money on gambling and luxury trips to Las Vegas and also to Lake Tahoe, on the border between California and Nevada.
Kreuper was sentenced to one year and one day in prison.
