The NS Audience Award will not be awarded this year because of manipulation of the election “on a large scale”. The voting process was not fair and that is why the outcome of the election is not, writes the Collective Propaganda Foundation of the Dutch Book (CPNB) on Wednesday. The CPBN organizes the annual election of the most popular book of that year according to readers.
The foundation does not elaborate on the issue, but last week it became clear that voters misused the voting tool to cast illegal votes, often on the most recent book by FVD leader Thierry Baudet, The Corona deception. Anyone wishing to vote for the NS Audience Award only had to enter a valid email address. In the e-mail received, votes did not need to be confirmed again.
Including former Minister of Health Hugo de Jonge (CDA), BBB leader Caroline van der Plas and Sylvana Simons of BIJ1 complained last week because they had received a confirmation email: they would have voted for Baudet’s book without their own knowledge. CPNB then announced that it would adjust the voting process. Now the foundation is canceling the election altogether, because “fair” elections and a “just” winner cannot be guaranteed.
