The Spaniards are clear that artificial intelligence (AI) has come to stay. But, despite believing that it has many benefits for medicine (66%) and for industry (62%), more than half would never get into an autonomous car or undergo a medical operation carried out by a robot. This follows from the study of the Sociological Research Center (CIS) on Artificial Intelligence, published this Friday.
The survey also reflects that 93% of the population is “very or quite agreed” that companies and organizations should inform when they use the instead of human beings, as well as that 94% believe that programming and intertwining of these technological models must be regulated.
As for other human actions that could end up being replaced by robots, one of the ones that would most bother Spaniards would be to speak with artificial intelligence, for example, in an information or customer service service. It goes hand in hand with the feelings that generate people technological advances: although the majority (68%) presents interest, uncertainty scale to second place (67.2%), followed by concern (58%) and fear (57%). In addition, the word that most associates with advances in technology Spaniards is the word “power” with a 7.72 average, followed by “progress” with a 7.67 and “dependence” with a 7.65.
On the protection of personal data, 94% ensure that the privacy of this Ifnormation is very important, while only 5.8% say they are not worried about that privacy. In addition, 77% say they are concerned about “a lot or enough” the use of their personal data on the Internet by private companies. In the event that they are public institutions that have access to personal data, the percentage of those who are concerned about the use of these data, drops to 59%, while those who say they are “little or nothing worried increases to 40%.
In addition, nine out of ten Spaniards believe “very or quite likely” that when it provides your data on the Internet, it is so that your information can be used to send you commercial offers, and that it is “very or quite likely” that your data can be used without your knowledge. And 85.5% say that it is “very or quite likely” that it can be a victim of some fraud.
