The symptoms continued to appear, but according to the doctors this girl was only suffering from anxiety
The agony of this lass it started in 2021, when hospitals and doctors were trying to contain the Covid situation. She was unwell and sought help, however she was sent home because the doctors thought she was just an overly anxious 23 year old. Months later a heartbreaking truth emerged.
Chandler Plante he contracted Covid in 2020. The virus presented itself mildly, after only a week he was already feeling well. The problems arrived after 3 months. The 23-year-old started to feel numb hands and arms. Since the discomfort didn't go away, she went to the emergency room.
The doctors examined her and then took her sent home. His symptoms had to do with anxiety, he didn't have any health problems.
I was told not to worry and to go home. So I left. But it kept happening. Only a long time later, on June 28, thanks to an in-depth head check, magnetic resonance imaging with contrast, did the truth come out. What they thought were just panic attacks were actually ischemic strokes. My arteries were 0.5mm narrow, when they should have measured 4mm.
The following month Chandler underwent delicate insertion surgery coronary stents to widen the arteries of the brain. In October, doctors repeated the surgery.
They put me under medical treatment and the strokes stopped for a while. The real nightmare arrived in November. The stents moved behind my right eye and began choking my optic nerve. I stopped seeing.
The 23-year-old explained that the doctors were very perplexed, as they could not understand what was happening to her. Something had gone wrong, but why? They subjected her to all kinds of tests and a craniotomy. She had a mass behind her eyeball, which the doctors said was a meningioma. She underwent a course of radiotherapy for 10 days. However, any treatment made her feel worse.
At that moment I felt more relieved, because I had a diagnosis and a tumor can be removed. I thought maybe things would get better. However, they eventually told me it wasn't a tumor. The inflammation could not be eliminated, because it was intertwined with all the most important nerves and muscles. They told me the best thing to do was to try to stop the flare-ups.
An improvement came only last year, in April 2023. A doctor prescribed her a drug which improved her life.
For the first time I felt I was improving. I am now taking two chemotherapy drugs. I lose my hair, but I manage to balance everything with folic acid.
This 23-year-old has become famous on social media and is followed in different parts of the world. She shares videos of hope and support for anyone who is facing a battle like hers, a situation it seems surreal And hopeless.
I have found so many friends in the disabled community. I was struck by the kindness and humanity of the people. I have learned to always look on the bright side.
Today this girl has not yet received a real diagnosis and still suffers from the same health problems, even though she has found how to balance the symptoms and have as few side effects as possible. Unfortunately she is blind in her right eye and will not be able to never come back to see.
I want to identify with people who battle mysterious medical conditions. I had to give up many things and change my lifestyle. Today I share videos and joke about my situation on my Chanplante account. I try to have a positive attitude and bring a little light into the hearts of others. Maybe if the first stroke had been diagnosed in time, we could have prevented the second one and so on. Perhaps the misdiagnosis about anxiety was my doom. I have learned to live with my condition and to smile, only in this way can I move forward.
