Vaccino, mayor of Messina in protest at the bay of San Francesco against the obligation of a reinforced Green Pass to cross the Strait
Second night in a tent, at the landing stages of the Rada di San Francesco for the mayor of Messina, Cateno De Luca, who also started one hunger strike against the prohibition, for those who do not have the Super Green Pass, to cross the Strait.
Waiting for news from Rome, explained De Luca, “until there is a response from the state that must modify this unjust rule because it does not guarantee territorial continuity”.
Vaccini, the order of Musumeci: “No Super Green Pass for the Strait”
While from Sunday the mayor of Messina, for months on a collision course with Nello Musumeci, occupies the pier as a sign of protest for the ban introduced by Draghi, the order arrives with which the governor of Sicily challenges Minister Speranza, mitigating internal disputes in the Sicilian center-right. From 2pm today, establishes the ordinance, is also allowed to passengers without Super Green Pass, headed for the Peninsula, to cross it Strait of Messina with ferries. A tampon will suffice. The provision remains in force until the end of the state of emergency. The same faculty is recognized to the inhabitants of the Sicilian minor islands. The order was signed “uselessly” 24 hours after the last appeal to the Minister of Health, Roberto Speranza, after the one addressed on January 5 to the premier for overcoming the restrictive national rules.
The provision is adopted “in order to guarantee and safeguard the territorial continuity, the access and use of maritime means of public transport for crossing the Strait of Messina as well as for connections to and from the Sicilian minor islands “, explained Musumeci.
The governor’s order also states that “the subjects who use the ships open for maritime connections in the Strait of Messina aboard cars or other means of transport are prohibition to abandon the vehicle for the entire time of the crossing. If, on the other hand, it is a question of pedestrians, they are obliged to remain in the open common areas of the boats, while on the contrary access to the closed rooms is prohibited.
In any case, it is mandatory for all passengers to keep a mask Ffp2. “So let’s put an end – says Musumeci – to an absurd injustice especially to the detriment of Sicilian passengers. A discriminatory rule of the central government to which we have already appealed for two weeks, so that it can be remedied. It is absurd that in the Peninsula every citizen without vaccine move from one region to another, while to go from Sicily to Calabria you must show the green certificate. Everyone knows that I have never been generous with the No Vax, but here even the belonging of Sicily to the rest of Italy “.
Micciché: “Gelmini will bring Musumeci’s ordinance to the CDM”
“I consider this ordinance in some way useful because to challenge it the Council of Ministers must meet and therefore it can be useful”, he said. Gianfranco Miccichè, president of Ars, at the ferry landing in Messina with the mayor Cateno De Luca there in protest for two days already. “I spoke a little while ago with Minister Gelmini – added Miccichè – I explained the situation that among other things he already knew, he told me that they are evaluating the validity of the ordinance, in any case I consider it useful also at the level of provocation . I don’t think the ordinance is valid, but I hope I’m wrong, I hope it is, but even if it doesn’t, the problem has been raised. Minister Gelmini told me that she will take it to the Council of Ministers, in somehow we hope to be able to solve the problem, I also called the ministers Brunetta and Carfagna who are about to call me back, in the meantime I called the ministers of my party, if necessary I can also call the others and speak with the party leaders “.
Mayor of Messina, his resignation
Yesterday De Luca, with one letter addressed to the general secretary and the president of the municipal council, ha resigned your own resignation from the office of mayor. They will be final in twenty days. “The reasons will be made known before the definitive effectiveness of the present and therefore, no later than next February 6”, reads the deed. “I am going ahead – he said – with the aim of running for the next regional elections for the presidency of the Region and becoming the ‘mayor of Sicily'”.
“I have kept my commitment. I said that today I would have handed in my resignation as mayor and I did so a little while ago. My resignation has been registered”. The resignation as mayor had already been announced in recent weeks by the first citizen ready to run for the presidency of the Sicilian Region. “I would have preferred to spend the night at my house with my family and that a sacrosanct prerogative, that of territorial continuity, was not questioned – says De Luca now -. But let’s continue this battle and if no answers arrive from Rome we are ready to raise the level of our protest “.
“We are waiting for news from Rome – he adds – that Minister Speranza corrects a legislative distortion with a stroke of the pen. Some Messina parliamentarians managed to talk to him but apparently he would have said that they are not talking about it. They made a bullshit. .. legislative and purely presumptuously they do not want to correct it. I hope this is not the case. In the meantime, we remain under state seizure “.
