Splatoon 4 is probably in the worksaccording to what was reported by the well-known leaker Midori, who identified a code name among Nintendo’s current productions and associated it with the new episode of the shooter series.
“Nintendo is working on a game project codenamed ‘Spiral,'” the leaker wrote in a post on Twitter. “Checking the data I received last month, this is most likely the code name assigned to the next episode of the Splatoon series.”
Midori added that she will provide information regarding these codenames to trusted members of the Famiboards forum, while explaining that she will be very careful about leaks regarding Nintendo projects, as she is keen not to spend a few years indoors.
So far, Midori’s anticipations, linked above all to the productions of SEGA and Atlus, have proven to be well-founded.
An obvious sequel?
That Splatoon 4 is currently in production, let’s face it, was taken for granted: the series has been a great success so far and the third chapter alone has totaled sales of 7.9 million copies.
It is therefore natural that Nintendo is developing a new episode, but for which platform Exactly? With the launch of Nintendo Switch 2 scheduled for 2025, certainly including Splatoon 4 in the initial line-up wouldn’t be a bad idea.
Maybe we’ll know more in a few days, when the already anticipated June Nintendo Direct will be broadcast.
