Video games for all audiences. Nintendo remains faithful to its brand philosophy focused on family video games, and has demonstrated this during the latest edition of its Nintendo Direct news program. During its broadcast, a varied selection of titles was presented, among which a new installment of the popular franchise stood out. Zeldathe first images of the expected Metroid Prime 4 and new installments of the sagas Mario & Luigi and Mario Party.
Below, we review the most notable titles of this presentation focused on games that will arrive on Nintendo Switch during the second half of 2024 (and 2025 in some cases).
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
This new installment of Zelda has been the big surprise of today’s Nintendo Direct, especially because, finally, players will be able to control the princess that gives its name to this legendary franchise. The hero Link has disappeared, so it will be your responsibility to rescue him. Unlike classic sword and shield gameplay, Zelda will have the Tri scepter, which will allow you to create replicas of objects and interact with the world in a creative way. It is expected to go on sale on September 26.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
Seven years after its existence was announced, Nintendo has finally published the first images of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond –which will be the definitive title–. The continuation of the acclaimed series of action and exploration games is once again run by the American team Retro Studios and has not had an easy development. The first trailer shows some pretty spectacular images for a Switch game, although they are not that far from what was recently seen on Metroid Prime Remastered. Nintendo has not specified the date beyond a generic 2025. Speculating, it would make sense for it to come out simultaneously on Nintendo Switch and its successor.
Mario & Luigi: Brotherly Connection
Nintendo has opened its presentation with this new installment of the series of turn-based combat games Mario & Luigi. Nine years after its last iteration, this new adventure will feature a cartoon visual style. The brotherly connection alluded to in the title will be represented in the game thanks to the new tandem actions that the two protagonists must carry out. Nintendo has announced that it will hit stores on November 7.
Super Mario Party Jamboree
Another guaranteed success franchise is Mario Partywhich will have another new version for Nintendo Switch. On this occasion, the characters of this digital board game will travel to an island to compete in up to 110 mini-games. In addition, the title will also feature boards from the first two installments, as well as a multiplayer mode for up to 20 online users. It is expected for next October 17.
Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake
Updating the classic Dragon Quest III It already has a release date: November 14. This role-playing game originally published in 1988 will return with a completely renewed version with a new visual style like that of Octopath Travelerhalfway between traditional pixel art and 3D effects. Likewise, its original producer, the Japanese Yuji Horii, has announced that modernized versions of the first two installments will also be released in 2025.
Donkey Kong Country Returns HD
What would a Nintendo presentation be without its corresponding portion of rehashes? In this case, the protagonists are Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong, who will return to Nintendo Switch with a high definition version of their adventure for Wii. The game will also include bonus levels from the version that was released for Nintendo 3DS. Its release date is set for January 16, 2025.
