Recently there is a studio that created ports that were presumed impossible for Nintendo Switch, and that was neither more nor less than Shiver Entertainment, who were in charge of bringing games like Hogwarts Legacy and Mortal Kombat 1 to the least powerful console of the current generation. It seems that the company has seen that potential, which is why they have recently closed a deal in which they sell themselves to the owners of Mario, Zelda, Pikminamong other franchises.
Nintendo itself announced that it had reached an agreement with the current owner of Shiver, Embracer Group AB, to acquire 100% of the company’s outstanding shares and convert it into a wholly owned subsidiary. This could be a step in the future, given that many more ports for high-quality games are expected in the next hybrid console, and for that they need experienced studios in the field.
Here is part of the statement:
By welcoming Shiver’s experienced and successful development team, Nintendo aims to secure high-level resources to port and develop software titles.
In the future, even after it becomes part of the Nintendo group, Shiver’s focus will remain the same, continuing with port assignments and software development for multiple platforms, including Nintendo Switch.
It is worth mentioning that Nintendo I had not made any other studio purchases since Next Level Gameswho are currently in charge of important franchises such as Luigi’s Mansion and also Mario Strikers. And as they say in part of their welcome, they will help make quality ports for those games that are from the new generation and are thought not to be able to be released on the console.

Editor’s note: I don’t know how good a purchase it is, after all they were not versions of games that really stood out for their decentness, in fact Mortal Kombat 1 was quite criticized in its day. However, you may have a good reason for this.
