The 404 Media site reports an internal investigation that would have led to the discovery of a guilty for some leaks that hit Nintendo recently, with evidence pointing to a Google employeewho allegedly disseminated secret information on products from the Kyoto company.
The culprit would have been detected by observing the accesses to YouTube contents, through a database that contains all the movements made on it in the last six years, and which would reveal some suspicious actions carried out on videos uploaded by Nintendo.
Apparently, a Google employee had unauthorized access to private videos on Youtube account of Nintendo, then disseminating the information before the moment decided by the company for the announcement.
Years of leaks caused by accessing YouTube videos?
Strangely, the report also states that the infringement of Nintendo’s protected content would have been “unintentional“.
It is not clear whether this clarification has to do with a form of preventive protection of the employee, because it would appear rather senseless.
Considering the reconstruction, at least the dissemination of information on the internet through leaks must have been intentional, therefore the damage caused would still have a certain consistency. In any case, according to the investigation at least the acquisition of the information occurred without the desire to damage Nintendo.
The episodes also date back to a certain period between 2013 and 2018, therefore these would not be recent events, but it does not mean that other cases of this kind did not originate in a similar way, even subsequently. We await any developments on this matter.
