Nightingalethe new fantasy-based survival game from the Inflexion team, was criticized for requiring an online connection constant despite the fact that it can also be played in single player, and to meet public requests the developers have decided to introduce an offline mode.
In fact, it seems that, although the title was generally appreciated for many aspects relating to the gameplay and its basic characteristics, many negative reviews on Steam users focus on the fact that a constant online connection is required even when not playing multiplayer.
For this reason, Inflexion plans to meet requests of the public and announced that it had given priority to the development of an offline mode that allows those who obviously take part in the single player game to be able to enjoy the title in question without necessarily having to be connected online.
An inspired survival, soon also offline
This is what is reported in a new post on the official Nightingale page on Steam, which announces the start of work on the offline mode presumably arriving soon, considering the priority assigned.
“Our vision for the game, from the beginning, was to create a series of Interconnected realmswith the idea of allowing cooperative exploration first and foremost,” the team explained, illustrating the original idea that led to the need for mandatory online.
“This meant choosing to immediately invest in supporting cooperative mode from day one rather than offline mode at launch,” explained Inflexion, a team led by ex-Bioware Aaryn Flynn.
“The cooperative gameplay associated with having party members spread across different realms was actually the most technically difficult thing to do, so we decided to prioritize that,” the team further explained, “but looking back at that decision, we evidently made a mistake in evaluating what many others wanted from this experience.”
An offline mode will therefore soon be made available which will allow all players who prefer single player to be able to play without any active connection. In the meantime, let's remember our test of Nightingale on the pre-launch version.
