NewJeans, the hottest K-pop band of the moment, will be the protagonists of an unusual collaboration with the famous battle royale video game PUBG Battlegrounds. The South Korean band formed by Danielle, Hanni, Haerin, Hyein and Minji, is a prominent name in the international music scene less than two years after their debut. Known for their lively and innovative style, they have won the hearts of millions of fans with songs like “Attention” and “Hype Boy”. Now, these young stars are preparing to make their mark in the world of video games too.
The collaboration with PUBG Battlegrounds introduces a series of exclusive cosmetic content for players, such as the iconic bunny hats and beanies from their hit music video “OMG”, or Bunnies-themed backpacks (as the girl band’s fandom is called). In addition to NewJeans-inspired clothing and accessories, players will be able to find colorful chests and special chests that offer exclusive NewJeans-themed bonuses. The release date of the collaboration is set for June 12, 2024 for PC and June 20, 2024 for consoles, and is preceded by an introductory video which also shows the customization of weapons.
NewJeans is a group formed by ADOR, a subsidiary under the aegis of the giant Hybe Labels, also the parent company of the very famous BTS. Their creative director is Min Hee-jin, a k-pop veteran who for this project decided to mix influences from the early 2000s with musicality that had never been heard before in Korean pop. NewJeans debuted in July 2022, and quickly climbed the global music charts, winning dozens of awards at home and abroad. Recently, they took part in the Billboard Women in Music Awards together with our Annalisa. Their latest work, released last month, is the double single “How Sweet/Bubble Gum”.
