The double achieved by Red Bull on the occasion of the first GP of the season in Bahrain sent an even stronger message to the competition about which team to beat this year. After the domination of the last world championship, the fear of many drivers and teams is that what happened last season could repeat itself in 2024.
A concern that becomes even greater if the 'father' of RB20i.e. the Technical Director of Red Bull Adrian Newey, he didn't expect this result and, more generally, this performance: “I have to say it was unexpected – admitted the British designer to Viaplay – we weren't satisfied with the car and the gap we had in practice, but in the race everything went right.”
Furthermore, according to Newey, there are still some areas of the single-seater on which it is necessary to work to increase the potential, even if the result of the inaugural GP is the result of the overall work of the team: “It's our whole team, the engineering team, everyone behind the car. All the lads at Milton Keynes have made a huge effort to get this far, to have the performances we have had.”he concluded.
Formula 1 now moves to Saudi Arabia, and more specifically to the first street circuit of the season in Jeddah. Last year it was always Red Bull that asserted itself, even if in that case with Sergio Perez, author of a good performance in Sakhir with 2nd place.
