In front, moreover, characteristic features such as the red GTI logo on the grille, the air intakes in a honeycomb structure and the continuous red decorative strip, above the strip of LED daytime running lights, which on the right and left sides converges with red winglets in the LED Matrix IQ.LIGHT headlights.
Behind the new Polo GTI we are characterized by the LED rear light clusters that push decisively towards the center of the tailgate and present animated brake lights; the dynamic direction indicators integrated in the optical groups then, they indicate the direction of the turn with a fluid movement of the light. The new GTI specific bumpers make the sporty compact look still wider on the road.
The new Polo GTI is available in five colors: Deep Black Pearl Effect, Smoke Gray Metallic, Kings Red Metallic, Pure White Uni and Reef Blue Metallic. The last three frame colors can be combined with a contrasting black roof as optional (Roof Pack). The car is fitted as standard 17-inch alloy wheels. As in a self-respecting GTI we have the contrast stitching red on the sports steering wheel multifunctional covered in leather, in the gear lever cover and on the external surfaces of the seats.
The sports seats are upholstered with the legendary a Clark paintings (dark gray, light gray and red stripes, black squares). Also in the cockpit there are numerous chrome details. The boot capacity of the new Polo GTI is of 351 liters.
The instrumentation and the infotainment system are arranged on the same optical plane. Inside the Polo GTI it is possible to recharge smartphones using taken USB C and, as an optional equipment, also wireless (by induction). In addition to its size (the diagonal of the screen measures 10.25 inches or 26 centimeters) the Digital Cockpit Pro has a high pixel density, better contrast and more intense colors. It can be configured quickly and intuitively via the large touchscreen the infotainment system and the buttons on the multifunction sports steering wheel covered in leather, flattened at the bottom.
There new design it was tuned specifically for the Polo GTI. If desired, the full digital display can illustrate, for example, full-screen route guidance. The touchscreen on the center console can be designed and operated according to your preferences.
With its essential surfaces, the Climatronic with touch functions (available on request) integrates seamlessly into the modern look of large displays. The control unit has touch surfaces and touch-sensitive cursors.
New Volkswagen Polo GTI, infotainment
The new Polo GTI has the infotainment system as standard Ready2Discover with 8.0 ”high resolution display. On request are also available Discover Media system and the system Discover Pro with a brilliant 9.2 ”display. The 8.0 “and 9.2” devices belong to the third generation (MIB3.1), the most recent of the modular infotainment platform. With Ready2Discover, the owner can later enable the navigation function (Function on Demand).
Discover Media and Discover Pro, on the other hand, already have them. Thanks to an online connectivity unit (OCU) with Integrated eSIM, the extended functionality range of MIB3.1 systems includes the online services of We Connect (designed for use without time limits) e We Connect Plus (prepared in Europe for free use for one or three years).
Depending on the equipment, i MIB3.1 systems also offer new functions such as access to streaming services and the customization of many settings which, being also stored in the cloud through the Volkswagen ID, can consequently also be recalled in other Volkswagen models. The Wireless App-Connect enables wireless integration of apps for Apple CarPlay And Android Auto.
New Polo GTI features turbo gasoline engine
The characteristics of asports car reside in the engine and the new front-wheel drive Volkswagen Polo GTI mounts a unit 2.0 TSI with direct petrol injection and turbocharging turbo, which develops 207 hp and allows for a maximum speed of 240 km / h.
Switching between reports is done via a 7-speed dual clutch DSG gearbox (standard). The sprint from 0 to 100 km / h takes place in 6.5 seconds (the empty weight of the car is 1,286 kg). The maximum torque is 320 Nm between 1,500 and 4,500 rpm.
In addition, the 2.0 TSI (displacement 1.984 cm3) is mounted in the front position transversal and is characterized by a double injection system, with combined direct and indirect injection, one engine control unit with four processors control units and electronic switching of the valve lift on the intake side.
New Volkswagen Polo GTI Sport Select sports suspension
The new Polo GTI can be equipped, on request, with theSport Select trim. The driver can choose between two different levels for adjusting the shock absorbers. The standard driving profile selection in the new Polo GTI offers four modes: Eco, Individual, Normal And Sport. The different modes allow the driver to set individual parameters that vary the car’s driving behavior.
With the Sport Select suspension it is possible, for example, to change steering behavior, engine mapping and gearshift control, depending on the selected profile. Furthermore, the sound the exhaust system is automatically changed to Sport mode.
In addition to adjustable shock absorbers, the Sport Select suspension includes a stabilizer bar larger front with stiffer coupling elements, and more rear axle bearings rigid. In addition, even in this case the body is lowered by 15 mm.
This reduces the height of the Polo GTI to 1,439 mm than the Polo, with an identical length of 4,074 mm and a width of 1,751 mm. In particular, with the Eco profile, the operation of the engine, air conditioning and auxiliary units is managed with a view to maximum containment of consumption.
Also, in this mode the DSG activates a soaring function. If the driver takes his foot off the accelerator pedal (for example, when driving downhill), the DSG “releases” the clutch and the engine runs at idle.
ADAS on the new Polo GTI
As for the equipment ADAS Volkswagen groups them under the brand IQ.DRIVE. The basic module is the driver assistance system Travel Assist which, for the first time on the Polo, allows partially automated driving. The system can take over control of steering, braking and acceleration from 0 km / h up to the system limit of the Travel Assist (210 km / h).
For this purpose, once activated, the system uses, among other things, predictive ACC with automatic distance adjustment (longitudinal dynamics) and lane keeping assistance Lane Assist (transverse dynamics).
Through a radar on the front and a camera behind the windshield, the Travel Assist can maintain speed, lane and distance from the vehicle that comes before. The system is activated via the key Travel-Assist on the new multifunction steering wheel covered in leather.
The driver always remains responsible for controlling the Polo GTI and must keep hands on the wheel even when the IQ.DRIVE Travel Assist is active.
