After a beta testing period, today a substantial update has arrived to the PlayStation 5. On this occasion we not only find the now classic improvements to the general system, but we are presented with a series of changes to the DualSense microphone, new options to share your screen with friendsand settings related to the console's power supply.
To start, the DualSense and DualSense Edge now feature several microphone improvements. The control speaker can now produce a louder sound, allowing you to hear game sounds and voice chat audio more clearly. Likewise, improved noise cancellation is included, courtesy of a new machine learning model with artificial intelligence. Background noise from button presses and in-game audio is suppressed, resulting in a better voice chat experience.
Along with this, players who are enjoying a friend's game through Share Screen in full screen mode, can now use pointers and emojis to interact with the host title. Although this feature is available by default, you can disable it in Share Screen settings.
Finally, It is now possible to adjust the brightness of the power indicator on your PS5 console. To do this, you need to go to Settings, then System, followed by Beep & Light, and then select Brightness. This last point is not as striking as the other two, but it still offers a quite interesting option.
Remember, These improvements arrived in early February as part of a beta update for a select group of users, so it is possible that you already have all these new features available. For the rest of the users, these are a completely new series of improvements. On related topics, PS5 users lose access to their digital games. Likewise, more PS2 games would reach the PS5 through emulation.
Editor's Note:
The most important thing about this update is, without a doubt, the improvements to the DualSense audio. Although many already have a designated microphone, others do not have this, so they use the controller to communicate in games like Helldivers IIso these new options will surely be very useful for them.
