On Italian highways new charging stations are arriving fast charging of electric cars with ultra-fast charging points up to 400 kW. The new high power stations will be built by Atlas and positioned in 8 strategic service areas.
High-power electric charging stations, in fact, are infrastructures designed to provide fast and efficient charging to electric vehicles (EVs). These charging stations can dispense high powersallowing EVs to recharge their batteries significantly faster Shorter compared to conventional charging stations.
There are different types of charging stations, but the most widespread high-power one is the fast charging system HPC (High Power Charging) in DC (direct current) which can provide power up to several hundred kilowatts (kW). These stations are usually located along the highways or in strategic areas of cities to allow drivers to quickly charge during long journeys or during the working day.
Fast electric charging on the motorway
Atlante, a company of NHOA Groupformed by Stellantis, NHOA and Free2move eSolutionsthe first one won tender notice in Italy to design, build and manage beyond 90 charging points ultra-fast for electric vehicles along Italian motorways. These new high-power charging stations will join the more than 100 already existing FreeToX on Italian motorways.

Atlante specifically will install 90 charging points high power up to 400 kW in 8 service areas along the motorways managed by ASPI. The stations will have a design signed by the studio Bertone Design and they will include solar panels and energy storage systems. The stations will be distributed throughout the national territory and especially in Lombardy, Veneto, Tuscany, Campania and Puglia.

The stations will also have recognition systems for the illegal parking, intelligent lighting, WiFi, multimedia information kiosks, and 24/7 video surveillance. They will be equipped with POS terminals for payment with bank cards and will be compatible with all charging standards and electric mobility service providers.
