Although one might think that after the departure of Bobby Kotick, Activision Blizzard would begin to improve their work environment, it seems that this is not the case. Recently, a new lawsuit was filed against this company, where he is accused of discrimination against “older white men.”
In accordance with Law360, a former Activision Blizzard executive has filed a lawsuit against the company for discrimination. Some of the accusations are against Bobby Kotick. It is important to mention that This person was one of seven men over 47 years old who were fired some time ago. Here it has even been mentioned that, during a leadership conference, the former CEO even commented that the company's problem is that “there are too many old white men.”
Following these events, and as some probably remember, a series of layoffs were carried out as part of a restructuring that ended up affecting multiple executives. In this way, the plaintiff added that “Activision put profits before people by firing older, highest-paid executives.” At this point, it was mentioned that the plaintiff was recommended for a position of greater responsibility, but the company chose to hire a younger, non-white worker.
As a result, and as mentioned in the lawsuit, This person would have created a hostile environment job. All of this motivated the complainant to complain to the Human Resources department, but he explains that his protest was “ignored and not taken seriously.” For all this and more, the plaintiff seeks compensation for unjustified dismissal and moral damages.
About, Activision Blizzard has contacted those responsible for the lawsuit to refer to its equal employment opportunity policy.. At the moment we do not know how this lawsuit will come to an end, although considering that similar legal conflicts ended with the company losing, it is not ruled out that the same will happen in this case. On related topics, this is how the firing of Bobby Kotick was carried out. Similarly, Microsoft shares fall after the purchase of Activision Blizzard.
Editor's Note:
This is a valid claim, but I doubt it is for the reason the plaintiff made it. The important thing here is hiring someone with less experience and restricting raises to executives to increase the CEO's profits. The lawsuit should not be focused on “discrimination against white people,” but rather on wrongful termination.
