Often, spypics are carefully leaked photos that fit perfectly into a new model’s marketing plan; but this KTM prototype is so wonderfully rough that we dare not accuse the Austrians of it. There are even traces of rust on the typical trellis frame.
There are a number of differences with the 390 Adventure that we immediately notice. For example, with its 21” rim at the front and 18” at the rear, it shows more off-road aspirations than the Adventure (19” front & 17” rear). The swingarm is also new, both in shape and material used: we have never seen a CNC-machined swingarm before at KTM. It can of course also be a test part that is later made into a casting. The also CNC-machined motor bracket is different from that of the Adventure. The shape of the new swingarm and new exhaust also seem to allow for more suspension travel.
The official name of the model and when it will be released on the market is still unknown, but it is clear that the smaller segments are also gaining in importance.
