The Liquefied Gas Association demands a review of the remuneration they receive for the distribution of the traditional butane cylinder.
According to this association, the current regulated pricing system, which was established temporarily in 1998, has not been adjusted to reflect increases in costs in the sector.
In the case of LPG, it is the so-called Marketing Cost – known as the C term – which must reflect said costs incurred by operators and the transport and distribution chain. In this specific case, it has not been correctly updated since 2015 (Order IET/389/2015), because it does not allow the impact of inflation or the loss of scale due to market decline to be transferred.
This has caused, according to the Association, operators and distribution companies, many of them small and medium-sized companies, to operate at losses.
The difference between the increase in the CPI since the entry into force of Order IET/389/2015 (21.9%) and the adjustment of term C (only 8.6%) reflects this disconnection and, therefore, they demand regulation adequate to balance the costs of companies.
