Here comes the Ford Ranger Raptor of the new generation. Developed by Ford Performance is the best performing version of the Ford pickup. The biggest news for lovers of extreme performance is the introduction of the new 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 EcoBoost petrol enginecapable of producing 288 CV And 491 Nm of torque.
New Ford Ranger Raptor features EcoBoost engine
The engine 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 EcoBoost provides a cast iron cylinder block compacted, which is about 75 percent more resistant and up to 75 percent more rigid of the iron used in traditional castings.
The new system anti-lagavailable with the Baja modekeeps the turbochargers spinning for up to three seconds, allowing for a faster one resume on exit cornering or shifting gears when the driver takes his foot off the accelerator. In addition, the engine is programmed with a profile of individual supercharging for each of the gears of the advanced 10-speed automatic transmission, in order to optimize performance.
The current engine 2.0 liter EcoBlue Bi-Turbo Diesel will continue to be available for the next-generation Ranger Raptor starting in 2023, with more details available nearing launch.
New Ford Ranger Raptor features chassis and trim
The next generation Ranger Raptor has a specific frame than the new Ranger. A number of supports and reinforcements are specific to Raptor such as the C-pillar, cargo box and spare wheel, as well as supports for the crash pads, the front shock tower and the rear shock bracket.
A off road high performance like the Ranger Raptor it needs equipment to match. For this reason, Ford engineers have completely redesigned the suspensions. The new aluminum upper and lower control arms, strong yet lightweight, the front and rear suspension for long range and a refined Watt’s link system rear have been designed to offer greater control over rough terrain at high speeds.
The new generation shock absorbers FOX Live Valve 2.5-inch with internal bypass feature state-of-the-art control technology that offers position sensitive damping capability. These shocks are the most sophisticated ever fitted to the Ranger Raptor and are filled with Teflon-infused oil which reduces friction by about 50% compared to those of the previous model.
While the mechanics are FOX, the tuning and development work was done by Ford Performance using a combination of computer-aided engineering and real-world testing.
Linked to the Ranger Raptor’s new selectable driving modes, the Live Valve has been developed to provide better on-road comfort and better off-road ride quality at both high and low speeds. When the shock absorbers compress, different areas within the bypass system give exactly the amount of support needed to gear and work in reverse when the shock absorbers push to maximum height.
To ensure protection in the suspension bottom out phase, the tried and tested FOX Bottom-Out Control provides the maximum strength di damping in the last 25 percent of the shock movement. Likewise, the system can stiffen the shock absorbers rear to prevent Ranger Raptor from doing so “Fold” in case of strong acceleration, improving the stability of the vehicle.
Ford Ranger Raptor features off road
The Ranger Raptor’s ability to tackle rough terrain is further enhanced with a serious underbody protection. The front metal plate is nearly double that of the base Ranger and is made of thick high-strength steel 2.3 mm.
THE double tow hooks front and rear provide flexible recovery options when riding off-road. For the first time, Ranger Raptor features an advanced permanent all-wheel drive with an optional electronically controlled two-speed transfer gearbox, combined with front and rear lockable differentials.
New Ford Ranger Raptor 4 × 4 driving mode
Supporting the next-generation Ranger Raptor in handling all conditions, from smooth roads to mud to ruts in the ground, are seven driving modes selectable, including the Baja mode Off-road oriented, which configures the vehicle’s electronic systems for maximum performance during high-speed off-roading.
Each selectable driving mode adjusts a number of elements, from the engine and transmission to the sensitivity and calibration of theABS, traction and stability controls, exhaust valve actuation, steering and throttle response. In addition, the gauges, vehicle information and themed colors on the instrument panel and on the central touchscreen, they change according to the selected driving mode. Here are the seven selectable driving modes on board the new Range Raptor, the first three for use on the road:
- Normal: designed for comfort and fuel efficiency
- Sport: more responsive for decidedly gritty road driving
- Slippery: for safer driving on slippery or uneven surfaces
- Rock crawl: for optimal control when driving at low speed on rocky and uneven ground
- Sand: Optimizes gear changes and power delivery for smooth driving in sand and snow
- Mud / Ruts: for maximum grip when starting and maintaining the thrust of the vehicle
- Baja: for maximum off-road performance at high speeds
The new generation Ranger Raptor is also equipped with Trail Controlwhich is a kind of cruise control for off-road. The driver simply selects a speed set above below 32 km / h and the vehicle handles acceleration and braking while the driver only has to concentrate on steering to master even the most difficult terrain.
Ford Ranger Raptor exterior features, how is it?
The new Ranger Raptor out features a completely revamped look. The widened wheel arches and the design of the C-shaped headlights emphasize the width of the pickup, while the FORD lettering on the grille and the sturdy separate bumper add further visual power.
THE headlights are LED matrix with LED daytime running lights and include predictive cornering lights, anti-glare high beams and automatic dynamic leveling.
Widened fenders cover 17-inch alloy wheels muscular design, mounted on All Terrain tires exclusive to the Raptor. Functional air intakes, aerodynamic features and sturdy side steps in cast aluminum help to improve the appearance and functionality of the vehicle.
At the rear, the LED rear lights provide a stylistic link at the front, while the Precision Gray rear bumper features a integrated platform it’s a tow hook attached high to avoid compromising the angle of attack.
New Range Raptor cockpit, how is it inside?
