The fourth edition of the ‘Yes donating makes you happy’ campaign, promoted bythe largest chain of sweet and savory products ODStore for Nemo Clinical Centersthe network dedicated to the care, assistance and research on pediatric and adult neuromuscular diseases. Until December 11, all those who go to one of the 74 points of sale will be able to donate 1 euro at the cashier, receiving a Lindor salted caramel chocolate in exchange.
At the center of the initiative – explains a note – there is the theme of the strength of the gift to overcome obstacles and address the frailty of children with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) and muscular dystrophiesand their families.
Thanks to the funds raised in recent years – donations of the first three editions of the campaign amount to 276,804 euros – the project of the Affectivity Clinic was launched, to concretely support children and their families along the entire path of illness, from the first days of life until adolescence. In addition to the team of professionals of the Nemo centers, dedicated to psychological, educational and relational aspects, spaces are provided for sharing, playing and relating with cutting-edge devices to meet the needs of care and growth of the little ones, linked to the changes imposed by the disease.
“Today more than ever it is important to continue to send the simple but equally strong message that we must do everything possible to sow happiness – he declares Mauro Tiberti, founder of the ODStore chain and creator of the campaign – And often happiness is made up of small gestures, like that of a child who receives a sweet as a gift. That happiness is capable of conquering the whole world. Here, this is the spirit with which we have chosen to continue our commitment with enthusiasm alongside the Nemo Clinical Centers. Because I am convinced that with many small gestures we will be able to build great things “.
Precisely in a historical and social moment marked by fragility and difficulties for the future, the partnership between the two bodies is renewed with even more conviction, in light of what has been invested in recent years to support the families who face the diagnosis and treatment path of a pediatric neuromuscular disease.
“It is wonderful to talk about happiness with the awareness that it is the fruit of the commitment of many and that it has been renewed for 4 years now – he says Alberto Fontana, president of the Nemo Clinical Centers – Our children with SMA and muscular dystrophies need daily care gestures, which have no clamor, but which are essential to guarantee them the possibility of living full days of school, sports, friends. We respond to the fragility of the disease with the strength of scientific research and the ability to put in place targeted projects for taking care of everyone. And the message of ‘Yes, giving makes you happy’ has always been a concrete support that helps us to fulfill our mission “.
The Affectivity Clinic – the note details – involves about 20 dedicated professionals present in the 7 offices of the Nemo network, provides three pediatric hospital rooms in the newly opened centers of Brescia, Trento and the newly created headquarters of Nemo Ancona. They are colorful and welcoming spaces, with walls painted with candies and sweets to remind you that the time lived in Nemo is a time spent in safety, like feeling at home.
With regard to the psychological support paths, there are about 400 pediatric outpatient services carried out in the centers alone in the last year, to which are added 240 long pediatric hospitalizations and the continuous path that comes out of hospitalization time to give and guarantee each family a reference always available in everyday life.
The fourth edition of the campaign will support the ambitious goal of increasingly refining the tools and concrete actions for taking charge of the affectivity outpatient clinic, to think of care responses that are increasingly a reference for the family in all aspects. of daily life. Important challenges, therefore – conclude the promoters – to be achieved thanks to that ancient ritual of gift exchange that will take place in these weeks in all its magic in the ODStore stores, thanks to the collaboration with Lindt & Sprüngli. Because, as Willy Wonka says, in his chocolate factory, “there is not a life that I know of, to compare with pure imagination. Living here, you will be free, if you really want it.”
